Movember - Men's Health Awareness
Each year, Movember, is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces in New Zealand and around the world, with the sole aim of raising vital funds and awareness for men’s health.
Men sporting Movember moustaches become walking, talking billboards for the 30 days of November and through their actions and words raise awareness by prompting private and public conversation around the often ignored issue of men’s health.
Movember is now in its fifth year in New Zealand. The money raised as a result of the Movember campaign is channelled by our men’s health partners into a number of world class and innovative education, research and awareness initiatives. Movember New Zealand collaborates with two men’s health partners – the Cancer Society and the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand.
If you are male and have health concerns, please make an appointment now to talk to your primary healthcare provider.

Both saw palmetto and nettle have been shown in clinical studies to reduce symptoms such as urinary frequency, nocturia, hesitancy, dribbling, and incomplete emptying, whilst significantly increasing urinary flow rate; while willow herb has been shown to have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and enzyme inhibitory effects that could explain its traditionally observed effects in the management of BPH.
HERBS THAT MAY ASSIST
Serenoa repens (saw palmetto) fruit
Urtica dioica (nettle) root/rhizome
Epilobium parviflorum (small-flowered willow) herb

World Diabetes Day
World Diabetes Day raises global awareness of diabetes - its escalating rates around the world and how to prevent the illness in most cases. Started by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and WHO, the Day is celebrated on 14 November to mark the birthday of Frederick Banting who, along with Charles Best, was instrumental in the discovery of insulin in 1922, a life-saving treatment for diabetes patients.
WHO estimates that more than 220 million people worldwide have diabetes. This number is likely to more than double by 2030 without intervention. Almost 80% of diabetes deaths occur in low and middle-income countries.
