Consultations

What do they involve?

An Initial Consultation will take 60 minutes and Follow-ups will take up to 30 minutes, via zoom or over the phone.  Zoom is the preferred method and means you can do so from the comfort of your own home or workplace, from anywhere in New Zealand.  PLEASE NOTE: Face-to-face appointments will not be available after mid December 2021 as Dee will be relocating to Central Otago.  Appointments will be via Zoom only for a short period.

An important part of the naturopathic consultation process is to get to know your body and how it is functioning. Part of this is achieved by asking you a comprehensive set of questions, but to really know what’s going on Dee may perform a series of tests.

Here’s an overview of the tests which Dee may choose to use to assess your health further:

Saliva and Urine Hormone testing

Hormones are vital for life and can impact positive living.  So when their levels are too high or too low, there are consequences for our health (and for those around us). Hormone imbalances can contribute to many health disorders including menopausal symptoms, premenstrual syndrome and depression.  Hormonal imbalance may result in a symptom picture which includes:

Weight gain
Mood swings
Night sweats
Disturbed sleep patterns
Loss of libido
Hot flushes
Post-partum depression
Infertility
PMS
Menopause
Hypo/hyper thyroid

DUTCH Complete testing:
This test is a comprehensive assessment of sex and adrenal hormones and their metabolites. It also includes the daily, free cortisol pattern, organic acids, melatonin (6-OHMS), and 8-OHdG.  Patients collect just four or five dried urine and saliva samples over a 24-hour period. Dried samples are stable for several weeks making them convenient to ship worldwide. The cost is around $398

Organic Acids Test (OAT) and Mycotox Profiling

This urine-based tests provides a wealth of information about the functioning of various bodily systems and can be used to identify possible nutrient deficiencies, mould toxicity, gut dysbiosis, and more.  The lab cost is around $330.

Body Test (BIA)

Using the most effective electronic equipment available Dee can measure your body composition via Bio Impedance Analysis (BIA). This is done to ensure that the protocol you’re following is effective and safe.

BIA is a state-of-the-art electrical analysis tool developed by the University of Queensland to monitor function of the body. It has been in use for decades based on similar technology used by NASA to measure muscle loss in space. BIA provides accurate information on muscle mass and fat mass, and helps identify potential performance issues.

These additional tests are often performed in the initial consultation, regardless of the presenting condition during face-to-face consultations.

Blood Pressure
Tongue & Nail Analysis
Zinc Taste Test
